What is a low-density float level switch used for?
This float switch is specially designed for low-specific-gravity liquids such as oil, alcohol, diesel, kerosene, solvents, and light chemical liquids. It is used for liquid level detection, pump control, overflow protection, dry-run protection, and automatic alarm systems. Compared with standard float switches for water, low-density models provide more reliable buoyancy performance in lighter liquids.
What material is the float switch made of?
The standard model uses 304 stainless steel, including both the float ball and the float rod body, offering: Excellent corrosion resistance High temperature resistance Strong mechanical strength Long service life Suitable for oil, alcohol, and many industrial liquids For stronger corrosion resistance, 316 stainless steel customization is also available for special chemical environments.
Is this switch normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC)?
It supports both. The float ball can be manually reversed by 180° rotation, allowing users to switch between: Normally Open (NO) Normally Closed (NC) The factory default is usually the lower-open setting. This provides flexibility for different control systems.
Can the float switch directly control pumps or solenoid valves?
No. Because the internal reed switch carries only a small current, it should not directly control high-power loads such as: Water pumps Solenoid valves AC contactors Large alarms Recommended solution: For alarms or solenoid valves → use a small relay (such as HH52P / HH54P) For water pumps → use relay + AC contactor Direct connection may burn the reed contacts.
Is it suitable for alcohol, oil, and chemical liquids?
Yes. This model is specially designed for liquids with lower density than water, including: Alcohol Diesel Lubricating oil Transformer oil Kerosene Light chemical liquids Using standard water float switches in these liquids may cause poor buoyancy or unstable switching.
What is the control stroke of the single-ball float switch?
The control stroke is usually around 10mm, which means it is highly sensitive and suitable for precise point-level detection. It is ideal for: Compact tanks Precise liquid level alarms Sensitive automatic control systems
Why choose a single-ball model?
Choose single-ball if: Installation space is limited Only one control point is needed High sensitivity is required Compact equipment design is preferred
